Rev. Julie Pennington-Russell
Rev. Pennington-Russell became Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of the City of Washington, DC, on January 1, 2016.
Before coming to Washington, Pennington-Russell led three churches in Decatur, Georgia; Waco, Texas and San Francisco, California. She earned her B.A. from the University of Central Florida and her Master of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, CA. Her messages have been featured on the television broadcast 30 Good Minutes, Day-1 Radio and at the national Festival of Homiletics.
She is a trustee of Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond; a member of the Faith Based Advisory Committee for D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine; and a board member of the D.C. Baptist Convention.
She has been married to Tim Pennington-Russell for 30 years. They are the grateful parents of two young adult children.
