DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS

Summary
Reporting to the executive director, the director of programs will oversee NBC’s programs including the covenant of action program and other related events. This position will be responsible for recruiting and nurturing covenant partnerships, regular calls and meetings with partners and directing appropriate resources to ensuring their success. A qualified candidate would have the opportunity to work remotely and participate in a virtual office culture.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates will be highly self-motived, organized with excellent inter-personal skills. They will also have working experience in racial justice fields or with grassroots community organizing. Additionally, qualified candidates will have strong writing and communication abilities. Candidates should have an MDiv. or equivalent degree and those with a background in religious studies or multicultural justice work will be given special consideration.

Responsibilities

Recruit covenant partners.

  • Connect with denominational and institutional partners to educate their constituencies on the covenant of action program.
  • Identify potential covenant partners and initiate personal engagement.
  • Nurture relationships with those potentially interested in the program and work with them to identify others in their community who could be potential partners.

Nurture covenant partnerships.

  • Once a covenant partnership has been initiated, maintain consistent contact to support the relationship and resulting program.
  • Identify potential training and resource needs to ensure the ongoing success of covenant partnerships and growth of the leaders/communities engaged in them.
  • Serve as a liaison to covenant partner coaches and work with coaches to ensure the health of covenant partners.

Mission and vision

  • Work with the NBC team and executive director to implement NBC’s mission.
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth of the organization through communicating needs and opportunities identified through work with potential and current covenant partners.
  • Add to the theological vision and practical application of the Baptist justice tradition through ongoing thought, reflection and engagement.

OFFICE MANAGER

Summary
Reporting to the NBC executive director, the NBC office manager will oversee the daily operations of the NBC office as well as serving as a resource to the executive director and director of programs. Additionally, the NBC office manager will help develop and execute NBC’s communications strategy in collaboration with NBC’s executive director. A qualified candidate would have the opportunity to work remotely and participate in a virtual office culture.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates will be proficient in basic office skills and should be familiar with Microsoft Office, WordPress, MailChimp and proficient in major social media platforms. Candidates should also have strong writing and communication skills. Additionally, candidates with a background in religious studies or racial justice will be given special consideration.

Responsibilities
Manage NBC’s office and administrative tasks including:

  • Record and distribute notes and minutes from staff, board and other programmatic meetings.
  • Keep and file relevant organizational and staff expenses.
  • Manage and keep up to date contacts in the organizations CRM (client relations management) system.

Serve as a resource to NBC executive director and director of programs.

  • Oversee logistics for organizational events and meetings.
  • Identify and execute additional administrative support as needs arise.

Coordinate with the NBC team to develop and implement communications strategy.

  • Work with the executive director to implement and develop email and social media communications.
  • Edit and design communications through email and social media

Field calls and respond to inquiries regarding NBC.

  • Serve as a front line contact for current and potential partners.
  • Staff the organization’s booth when sponsoring other gatherings and attend partner events as needed.

INTERNSHIP

INTERNSHIP

Summary
NBC interns will have the opportunity to actively engage in the mission of NBC and to make meaningful contributions to the goals of the organization. Interns will work closely with leaders across the nation to advance racial justice and reconciliation within and through the Baptist church. They will also work to promote the organization and to help maintain the office so that efforts run smoothly.

Deadlines
Fall semester internships: June 30
Spring semester internships: October 15
Summer internships: March 30
